Naomi Tesfaiohannes's responses

1. What kinds of characteristics do you want in your teammates, and why?

I want my teammates to be alert on the assignment and aware of any changes that might occur based on the work that gets done in class. This helps with responsibility being evenly distributed in the group

2. What kinds of things make teamwork go smoothly?

Communication. A lot of times teamwork can become confusing when the members do not communicate with one another. Communication can make for a more organized group and allow for the members to be aware of what their position is.

3. What kinds of things make teamwork not go so smoothly?

When members do not listen to one another. Whether it be because they do not agree or simply because of pride, members of a team need to listen and give feedback to one another. This does not mean to go with what someone says if you do not agree with them, but instead be willing to hear the other person's comments before turning them down.

1. What kinds of characteristics do you want in your teammates, and why?

I would want a teammate who is responsible and timely. I think these are important qualities in working together cohesively with equal amounts of responsibilities and fairly distributing work that gets done.

2. What kinds of things make teamwork go smoothly?

Teamwork goes smoothly when all members contribute equally to the assignment and are responsible and follow through with their relative assigned parts. Communication is also important when working on a project with teammates so that everyone is on the same page.

3. What kinds of things make teamwork not go so smoothly?

Teamwork does not go smoothly when members of the group do not contribute as agreed upon or are not communicating with the other group members.

1. What kinds of characteristics do you want in your teammates, and why?

I like teammates who have a positive vibe and a willing to help others. Another important characteristic that I like in teammates is to communicate well with their progress and have a willingness to meet together and complete the tasks as a team.

2. What kinds of things make teamwork go smoothly?

Communication is most important for me because it allows me to keep a steady progress and know what the expectations are so that neither of us fall behind, setting deadlines or check-ins to make sure that we are motivated and make time to complete tasks. The team should also be able to apply their skills to the table so that each one of us can work together and help each other to make the best project we can make.

3. What kinds of things make teamwork not go so smoothly?

The worst thing is not having a motivation to complete tasks throughout the week, and choosing to do everything on the last week or last days. Staying quiet and not having the willingness to help others hurts the team very much.

Aby's Response

What kinds of characteristics do you want in your teammates, and why?

I would appreciate timeliness, honesty, and flexibility in a teammate. Timeliness ensures that the assignment will be completed on time without rushing to finish at the last minute. A honest teammate will communicate their thoughts clearly and openly which helps everyone stay on the same page. Lastly, flexible team members make it easier to reach compromises if conflicts arise.

What kinds of things make teamwork go smoothly?

Communication, honesty, diplomacy, and delegating responsibilities make teamwork go smoothly.

What kinds of things make teamwork not go so smoothly?

A lack of communication and rigidity in thinking prevents the team from functioning smoothly.

Ymesfin (talk) 17:54, 30 October 2019 (PDT)

Mihir Samdarshi's Response

What kinds of characteristics do you want in your teammates, and why?

I want teammates who are honest and hardworking. I appreciate honesty as it allows me to better trust my teammate. Even if a particular task doesn't get done or something doesn't make sense, I am more than willing to help out if the teammate is honest. I believe that this goes hand in hand with hardworking, because honesty helps teammates push each other to do work. Furthermore, I appreciate reciprocity, and if a teammate goes the extra mile to do something, I will do the same.

What kinds of things make teamwork go smoothly?

Communication is the most crucial characteristic for a team's success. I believe that for schoolwork, good teams communicate their specific roles on a daily, weekly, and semesterly basis. Furthermore, I think that setting and meeting deadlines are also crucial to a team for group work. Even if the deadlines are not officially set by the professor, it is important to create a list of things to do, and to meet the deadlines for each of those subtasks.

What kinds of things make teamwork not go so smoothly?

Following up on my previous answer, non- or mis-communication. Furthermore, I think that teammates that are not willing to ask for help or not willing to go the extra mile to help others are what make a team fail. In a team, there will always be an inherit inequity in the amount of work a person does; I believe that team members who do not recognize this and do not contribute regardless of that inequity set a team up for failure.

  1. What kinds of characteristics do you want in your teammates, and why?
    • The most important characteristic for a teammate in my opinion is level-headedness. In a group-project setting, there should be many disagreements with how the product is worked on. However, it is up to the entire team to communicate and come to the best solution so that the final product is the best it can be. Disagreement is normal, so having an understanding group will use the disagreement to make a better final product.
  2. What kinds of things make teamwork go smoothly?
    • A team that hears all members opinions and uses them to achieve a goal is what makes teamwork great. I also think communication is key. Teammates that don't respond or those who are silent during meetings only hold back the unity of the team.
  3. What kinds of things make teamwork not go so smoothly?
    • I somewhat mentioned this above, but I strongly encourage teammates to be responsive when planning or working separately. When my teammate is working alone and makes decisions that the rest of the team doesn't agree with, it hinders the progression of the product. A team should be working together as much as possible, especially since the final product belongs to the whole team.

DeLisa Madere's Response

  1. What kinds of characteristics do you want in your teammates, and why?
    • I would like my teammates to be understanding, hardworking, and communicative. In a team, there may be situations that arise personally for people and if the other members are understanding, it solidifies the bond and the work ethic. A communicative team also is great because there will not be any lack of communication or miscommunication, making the bond stronger and having everyone be on the same page when working. The work will also be distributed evenly with these characteristics.
  2. What kinds of things make teamwork go smoothly?
    • Teamwork goes very smoothly when everyone is on the same page and the work is distributed evenly among the members.
  3. What kinds of things make teamwork not go so smoothly?
    • It is really hard to have a solidified team when somebody is not communicating, is not understanding of their member's personal schedule, and is slacking off.

Ivy Macaraeg's Response

  1. What kinds of characteristics do you want in your teammates, and why?
    • Something I really value in my teammates is good communication as well as thoroughness. I value communication because it makes it easier to work together. When we are able to talk together, our work becomes more organized and we can get tasks done faster. I value thoroughness (ie. reading through directions completely, making sure to finish your work) because we need to be on the same page to move forward with our projects.
  2. What kinds of things make teamwork go smoothly?
    • Things that make teamwork go smoothly are good communication, solid work ethic, and being efficient.
  3. What kinds of things make teamwork not go so smoothly?
    • Things that make teamwork go not as smoothly are things such as "flakiness," or the tendency to skip meetings, lack of communication, or disrespect.

  1. What kinds of characteristics do you want in your teammates, and why?
    • I want people who are willing to work in a group. I want them to understand what must be completed from each person in order to get the best grade possible. This is very important because it will help make sure the work is evenly distributed and completed amongst each other.
  2. What kinds of things make teamwork go smoothly?
    • Even distribution of work allows the team to finish on time and covers fairness. In addition, communicating with one another and helping each other make sure their parts are on the right track will allow it to go smoothly.
  3. What kinds of things make teamwork not go so smoothly?
    • Lack of communication doesn't allow it to go the way it should. Also, members who are doing the minimal without caring what their teammates have to say will not allow it to go smoothly.Icrespin (talk) 22:25, 30 October 2019 (PDT)

What kinds of characteristics do you want in your teammates, and why?

I would want my teammates to be responsible so that they do their portion of the work. I would also want them to have the ability to ask for help when they need it, so that they don't always try and fail to do it themselves.

What kinds of things make teamwork go smoothly?

Willingness to compromise, ask for help, being patient, and allowing people to help allows for teamwork to go smoothly. Also delegating and breaking up tasks helps when working together.

What kinds of things make teamwork not go so smoothly?

I think allowing pride to get in the way of compromise and asking for help can really get in the way of teamwork. Along with someone not doing their portion of the work can harm teamwork, and lack of communication can crumble teamwork.

  • I would my teammates to be organized and good with communication because these characteristics would help ensure that everything is done timely.

What kinds of things make teamwork go smoothly?

Organization, communication, and honesty all make teamwork go smoothly because these characteristics ensures that everyone does their part.

What kinds of things make teamwork not go so smoothly?

Bad communication and a lack of effort make teamwork not go so smoothly because they cause the team to be unorganized and everyone begins to wait on the other teammates to begin the project.

Kaitlyn Nguyen's Response

  1. What kinds of characteristics do you want in your teammates, and why?
    • I would like my teammates to be organized, get assignments done in a timely manner, and for there to be fair and thorough communication among the teammates.
  2. What kinds of things make teamwork go smoothly?
    • Communication is the largest aspect to make teamwork and assignment go smoothly. This allows for discussion of the assignment to make sure the end-product is met at the highest standard.
  3. What kinds of things make teamwork not go so smoothly?
    • Lack of communication is one of the aspects of teamwork that would alter the project and not make it "go smoothly." Where there is a lack of communication, there is a lack of partnership and effort on each teammate - one teammate may end up doing more work for the group than others.
