  • This week the key group accomplishments were completing the genome project and learning how to sort the raw data into an xml file.
  • this weeks target focus for me was to finish the genome paper project and to learn how to sort the micro array raw data
  • Next weeks target accomplishments are to sort the data file in a way so that I can work with the programer so that we can measure the gene expression for our salinity/sucrose experiment.
  • The strengths that were demonstrated this week were the intercommunication of most of the team members so that we could get things done. I really admired my group-mates staying up late with me and sacrificing their time to commit to the project
  • The weaknesses I saw this week was a sort of miscommunication between different members of the group. In the end it hurt our presentation and in deed our learning session on Thursday. In the future I hope that the communication is more fluid

For this week, the group primarily focused on creating a presentation for the literature. This presentation was turned in successfully and went over well. All import/export cycles were completed successfully. Next week's target accomplishments will be to download the GO terms form the gene ontology database. The team demonstrated an impressive ability to coordinate work and information flow in a short amount of time. A potential team weakness was the team's misinterpretation of the group presentation guidelines by studying the microarray paper before realizing that the presentation was only based on the genome paper.

Lauren Magee: Reflection Questions

  1. What were the week’s key accomplishments?
    • I think this week my group and I were mostly focused on completing our journal club presentation that was focused on our selected genome paper. In regard to my job specifically, I was able to download all of the essential documents from our microarray paper and post them onto the wiki.
  2. What are next week’s target accomplishments?
    • Since I have now acquired the documentation from the microarray article, I will work to create a table comparing the labeling used in the actual downloadable data to those mentioned in the microarray paper.
  3. What team strengths were seen this week?
    • I am very proud of my group for making so many sacrifices for the success of our project this week. Since all of us had read the microarray paper and done work according to that, we had to switch our whole presentation to focus on the genome paper. This meant we had only a few hours to complete our presentation before the deadline and we all worked extremely hard up until then. In addition my group met for a couple hours before class to practice our presentation, which I believed showed all of my team members' dedication to the project.
  4. What team weaknesses were seen this week?
    • Our only issue this week was with miscommunication. The wiki did not specify which article was to be used in the journal club presentation, and since we had all be focused on the microarray paper for our other project assignments, we all automatically assumed it would be the one we were using. In the future, we should clarify the directions of a project, when we find them to be unclear, sooner than the day before the project is to be presented.
