Genome sequencing for leishmania

  • The main paper for our group is The genome of the kinetoplastid parasite, Leishmania major.
  • Ivens, AC et al. 2005 Jul 15. The genome of the kinetoplastid parasite, Leishmania major. Science;309(5733):436-42.

prospective search

  • For the prospective search, I used web of knowledge to search for the keywords leishmania and genome in the titles of articles. The search produced 59 results.
  • The first few results were highly specific, so I went to the last page and searched backwards. On the last page there were some good general studies. I linked to my favorites as I was working. I also searched pubmed.

microarray data

  • I used the arrayexpress search to look for the species leishmania major. There were 12 experiments found, but only 5 were transcription profiling by array. None of the ones I searched through had papers associated with them that I could find. I searched for authors and keye words in Google Scholar and PubMed to no avail.
  • I found some good articles outlining how mircoarray experiments were used on the leishmania genome, but then I could not find the raw data associated with it. Luckily my group members had more luck and pointed me in the way of some good papers.
  • I took responsibility for the papers Expression between Species and in Different Host Genetic Backgrounds and Comparative genomic analysis of three Leishmania species that cause diverse human disease on the leishmania wiki page. Leishmania Major Articles
